Key People

Jürgen Kurb, CEO

Jürgen Kurb is an electronics engineer with more than 30 years experience in the semiconductor industry. He has held management positions at ITT, Honeywell and Intel, focusing on the development of new market segments in the field of technically ambitious solutions. In 1989, he founded his own company – Micronas in Switzerland.

Throughout the evolution of Micronas, he has held positions as CEO and Chairman of the Board. He managed the international group which included Sales, Marketing and Design organizations in the US, Asia and Europe as well as manufacturing sites for semiconductors, sensors and SAW filters in Finland, Switzerland and Germany. One major milestone achieved was the successful IPO of Micronas on the Swiss Stock Exchange in 1996 with a market capitalization of 290 million Swiss Franks.

Dr. Alexey Kovsh, CTO

Before joining Innolume in 2003 as CTO, Alexey Kovsh was the Operations Manager at ITRI in Taiwan, responsible for the of MBE technology of semiconductor lasers. Alexey graduated from the Chair of Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Alferov at the State Electrical Engineering University in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1996 and received his PhD from the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute in Russia in 1999. He is known in the compound semiconductor community for his contributions in development of semiconductor quantum dot technology which has been recognized by a half dozen Scientific Awards from various institutions.

Thomas Gebauer, CFO

Thomas joined Innolume in November 2005. Prior to this he was investment manager for 5 years with PEPPERMINT. Financial Partners, a venture capital fund focusing on early stage investments, where he specialized in semiconductor and software investments and was a Board Member or Board Observer at a number of start-up companies. Previously, Thomas had been an investment associate with Schroeder & Partner, a recognized German turnaround management fund that successfully restructured and exited a portfolio of 13 companies in the consumer-goods industry. Thomas holds a master's degree in Economics from University of Berlin.

Dr. Greg Wojcik, VP Engineering

In his 30 year engineering and mathematics career, Greg’s research has focused on wave propagation, ranging from very large scale systems to integrated devices. He began optical modeling in the late '80s, helping Tencor Instruments Inc. calibrate optical surface scattering behavior (Surfscan). A few years later, with his excellent team at Weidlinger Associates, he developed the first finite element/finite difference time-domain wave solver for optical phenomena in semiconductor processing. This code was applied extensively to phase-shift masks and lithography in the early '90s and used by SEMATECH, Intel, IBM. and Dupont, among others. In 2001 he joined a laser startup as Photonics Leader and subsequently worked for Applied Materials as Photonics Manager in its Silicon Photonics Group. He has Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from Caltech, and B.S. Degrees in Engineering and Mathematics from California Polytechnical Institute in San Luis Obispo.

Dr. Daniil Livshits, Production Manager

With more than 15 years of experience in manufacturing process of laser diodes, Daniil manages Innolume’s fabrication facilities, being responsible for production of Innolume’s diode lasers. Before joining the company in 2004 he has been working in ITRI, Taiwan in the field of diode laser processing and packaging. Daniil graduated from the State Technical University in St.Petersburg, Russia in 1993, and received his PhD from Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute in St.Petersburg, Russia in 2000.

Guido Vogel, Business Development Manager

Guido joined Innolume in 2004, as Business Development Engineer of optoelectronic components. Prior to this, he was Sr. Product Marketing Engineer at Mitsubishi Electric in Düsseldorf, responsible for discrete laser diodes sales and marketing throughout Europe. He graduated from the University of Gelsenkirchen with a degree in Engineering Physics in 2000.

Dr. Igor Krestnikov, Application Manager

Igor joined Innolume in 2003 to lead several customer-based projects. Currently he focuses on development of quantum dot lasers for optical interconnect solutions. Prior Innolume, Igor spent 3 years at the Technical University of Berlin as a Research Fellow. He received his PhD from Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute in St.Petersburg, Russia in 1998, doing his PhD research work in the group of Professor Alferov.
