Alexey Kovsh took part in the Co-Packaged Optics webinar
On July 15, 2025, the virtual conference Tracking Progress in Co-Packaged Optics was held, organized by the research firm LightCounting. The event brought together key players in the industry to discuss the future of Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) - an advanced approach to integrating optics and electronics within a single package.

The webinar agenda included:
- Hear from the established CPO suppliers: Broadcom, Coherent Corp., and Marvell Technology
- The CPO start-ups: Avicena Tech, Celestial AI, Lightmatter, and Nubis Communications
- Supporting technologies vendors: Alfalume, Inc., Lumentum, POET Technologies, SCINTIL Photonics, and SENKO Advanced Components, Inc.
- Closing discussion with Brad Booth, CEO of NLM Photonics: Was COBO ahead of its time?
Among the participants was Alexey Kovsh, who took part in the third session - Supporting Technologies. This session also featured speakers from Lumentum, Poet, Scintil Photonics, and Senko. The speakers discussed key enabling technologies for CPO solutions, including semiconductor light sources - one of Innolume’s core competencies.
In his presentation, Alexey Kovsh highlighted Innolume’s ongoing developments in DFB and comb lasers based on quantum dots (QD) designed for use in CPO systems. The presentation covered:
- stable laser operation at high temperatures;
- narrow optical linewidth and low relative intensity noise (RIN);
- strong reliability under HALT testing;
- QD lasers without the need for facet passivation;
- progress in developing 100 GHz comb lasers with 24 channels;
- examples of QD SOAs as a semiconductor analogue of EDFAs.
We appreciate the opportunity to present our work at a webinar dedicated to Co-Packaged Optics, which brought together around 700 participants from across the globe.
