Athermal 100mW CW DFB QD Laser
We are excited to introduce our next-generation O-band continuous-wave (CW) distributed feedback (DFB) laser, specifically engineered for seamless integration into Silicon Photonics and thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) based high-speed optical transceivers. Our laser design eliminates the need for an optical isolator and a thermoelectric cooler (TEC).
Built upon Innolume’s proprietary QD InAs/GaAs platform, this new DFB laser offers exceptional performance characteristics crucial for advanced optical modules, including mode-hop-free operation and robust resistance to optical back reflections. Furthermore, it boasts superior reliability, mitigating the early-life failures often associated with quantum well (QW) counterparts.
The laser operates in a single frequency regime from minus 10°C to 110°C, consistently delivering an optical power of 100 mW at a fixed drive current of 330mA and Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) above 20% across a broad temperature range of 0°C to 75°C, thereby eliminating the requirement for a current control loop.
These features make it ideally suited for 800 Gbps, 1.6 Tbps, and next-generation 3.2 Tbps DR8 and 2×FR4 optical modules, with the added benefit of isolator-free integration when the optical path is carefully optimized.
