Innolume made waves at OFC in San Diego with the debut of its groundbreaking Uncooled High-Temperature DFB lasers, a game-changer in the realm of optical communications. Presented in Eoptolink and HG Genuine 800G DR8 LPO modules, these lasers set new benchmarks for performance and reliability.

Key highlights of Innolume’s high-power DFB lasers include:

  • High Power: Achieving 150mW @70℃, empowering the integration of only 2 lasers per DR8 transceiver.
  • High Efficiency: With an impressive 20% Wall Plug Efficiency (WPE) at 70℃, driving < 8W power consumption in a DR8 LPO transceiver .
  • Insensitive to Optical Feedback: Capable of withstanding feedback up to -18dB, allowing operation without an optical isolator.
  • High Reliability: Fundamentally better reliability due to in situ window structure and resistance to dislocations
  • High manufacturability: QD DFBs are processed on GaAs wafers, which are available in 6 and 8”
  • High Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SMSR): Boasting > 55dB, ensuring superior signal quality.
  • Low Relative Intensity Noise (RIN): Measuring < -145dB/Hz, minimizing bit error rates.

From March 26 to 28, San Diego hosted the premier event in optical fiber communication, drawing industry leaders from around the globe. Innolume proudly participated once again, highlighting cutting-edge technologies pivotal to the sector’s future.
At the forefront were advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), Linear Pluggable Optics (LPO), and quantum networking.
A highlight of the exhibition was the unveiling of 800G DR8 LPO transceivers, featuring Innolume Quantum Dot DFB lasers developed in collaboration with Eoptolink and HG Genuine. These lasers were integrated without optical isolators further evidencing Innolume Quantum Dot DFBs resistance to back reflection. The unveiling garnered considerable attention, as evidenced by a compelling video shared by Jose Poso on LinkedIn.
Esteemed thought leaders enriched the conference with their insights, including luminaries like Andy Bechtolsheim of Arista Networks, Ashkan Seyedi from Nvidia, and Hong Liu representing Google.

At his invited talk Alexey Kovsh presented disruptive results on the Uncooled O-Band InAs/GaAs Quantum Dot Photonics Platform for Optical Communications during the Quantum Dots Lasers and Comb Generation session. Additionally, Innolume’s post-deadline paper, “High-Power O-Band QD Booster Amplifier for Uncooled Operation,” was selected for presentation by Sergei Poltavtsev and Janina Rautert, further showcasing our leadership in the field.
