Visit of Minister Ina Brandes to Innolume GmbH

Innolume, a specialist in photonics applications, has built a reputation over nearly two decades for its expertise in designing and fabricating  GaAs Quantum Dot (QD lasers). The company has made significant contributions in fields such as medtech, scientific instrumentation, and datacom.

Leveraging its unique knowledge in QD Laser technology and responding to the strong market demand driven by emerging AI applications, Innolume began modernising, upgrading, and expanding its Dortmund facilities last year, with plans for further increases in subsequent years. This investment will also significantly enhance Innolume’s R&D capabilities.

Simultaneously, Innolume has initiated the development of next-generation integration technologies for integrated optical engines, particularly for AI-related datacom applications. The company is committed to supporting the EU in reducing its dependency on non-EU suppliers for critical optoelectronic components.

During her visit, Mrs. Ina Brandes, along with the Head of the University of Dortmund, Prof. Manfred Bayer expressed their admiration for Innolume’s capabilities and its potential to play a leading role in these innovative areas. Innolume is poised for substantial growth over the next five years, a development that will be supported by the City of Dortmund’s plans to expand infrastructure for clean rooms and laboratories.
