New High-Power BOA Delivers 850 mW at 1310 nm
Innolume introduces the BOA1310070YY850MXXXX, a new O-band booster optical amplifier delivering 850 mW CW output power ex-fiber at 1310 nm. The device combines a 70 nm 3-dB gain bandwidth with a compact 14-pin butterfly package.
At 25 °C, the amplifier reaches 850 mW output power with a 100 mW (20 dBm) input signal at 1310 nm and a drive current of 3 A.

Figure. Typical CW output power versus drive current at 25 °C. With a 20 dBm input signal at 1310 nm, the amplifier reaches 850 mW at 3 A. ASE power from both fiber ports and the forward voltage, measured without an input signal, are shown for reference.
The BOA can be seeded with a 1310 nm model from Innolume’s DFB13XX000YY100MFVXX laser series, which features an integrated double-stage optical isolator. The stated BOA performance requires 100 mW delivered to the amplifier input.
The amplifier module includes an integrated thermoelectric cooler (TEC) and is available with PM1310 or HI1060 fiber and an optional 900 µm loose tube.
Additional high-power quantum-dot amplifier models are coming soon.
